Sustainability Certification

In November 2024, Cantine Dei obtained the prestigious Equalitas certification, a recognition that attests to our concrete commitment to sustainability. Equalitas, an Italian company founded in 2015, has developed a unique and uniform evaluation system for sustainability standards in the wine sector, based on three pillars: environmental, social, and economic. The criteria, drawn up by a high-profile scientific committee, promote a universal model of responsible management.

Organic farming: the first step towards sustainability

Cantine Dei has always placed environmental protection at the core of its philosophy, adopting practices that minimize environmental impact. The first step on this path was the adoption of organic farming in 2018, officially recognized in June 2021 with certification. For Cantine Dei, organic agriculture above all means greater protection of the soil as a vital resource.

The soil is preserved and enhanced through minimal tillage, spontaneous or artificial grassing, green manure, natural fertilizers (manure, humus), and mechanical weed control, excluding chemical herbicides. Being organic also means using only natural products, biostimulants, enhancers, and antagonistic microorganisms, benefitting both the environment and consumer health.

The Three Pillars of Sustainability

Sustainability certification represents the culmination of a constant commitment, a seal that confirms our mission and values. In our company, the three pillars of sustainability – environmental, economic, and ethical/social – are inseparably connected, forming the foundation for ensuring respect for the environment and the well-being of the people who work with us.

The Future in the Hands of Environmental Sustainability

At Cantine Dei, environmental sustainability is not only a goal or a set of practices to adopt, but a fundamental value guiding every action we take. Respect for biodiversity – both animal and plant – as well as for the surrounding environment and natural resources, is essential for a sustainable future and to enhance the production of our wines.

Beyond organic agricultural practices, which exclude the use of hazardous and synthetic pesticides, we manage water responsibly, use renewable energy, and are committed to recycling and reducing waste. We constantly monitor our environmental impact in line with Equalitas standards, assessing soil, water, and air biodiversity, as well as our Carbon and Water Footprints. To achieve these goals, we implement best agricultural and winemaking practices.

Economic Sustainability

For Cantine Dei, economic sustainability means a concrete commitment to a model that generates lasting value, both for the company and for the local area and community. This approach is expressed primarily through reducing environmental impact by investing in cutting-edge machinery, designed for greater energy efficiency and lower emissions.

In addition, Cantine Dei adopts a transparent and fair economic management system, ensuring decent working conditions and building relationships of trust with its suppliers. A key element is the commitment to fair compensation for both staff and suppliers, recognizing the value of their contribution.

The company also prioritizes the use of certified raw materials sourced locally, supporting the regional economy while guaranteeing product quality. In this way, Cantine Dei creates a virtuous cycle that combines economic growth, social well-being, and environmental protection.

Ethical and Social Sustainability: the Beating Heart

For Cantine Dei, people are the heart of the company: every collaborator is an active and fundamental part of our success, from production to sales. We believe in a welcoming, inclusive, and stimulating work environment, where everyone can feel valued and grow professionally.

We promote equal opportunities, continuous training, and transparent relationships, also with our partners and suppliers, to build a responsible and sustainable supply chain together. At the same time, we invest in our local area and community, because for us, business success only has meaning when it goes hand in hand with social responsibility.
